- Joining Location: Mallorca
- Salary: DOE

We are seeking a professional sailing couple to join a well-established program on a 35m private sailing yacht. The vessel is currently completing an extensive 5-year refit in Mallorca, with a launch date in June. This opportunity is ideal for experienced crew looking to work in a collaborative environment with long-term leadership.
The Mate will work alongside the current Senior Captain, who has been with the owners for 13 years. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role where you'll have ownership of daily operations while benefiting from the guidance of an experienced Senior Captain who prefers a hands-off leadership style. The Senior Captain will be onboard for Owners Trips and Crossings, and the Mate will step into the role of Relief Captain as soon the Senior Captain steps off. In the long term, the Senior Captain will transition out of the program in 2-3 years, so the owner is looking for a Mate who is eager to commit long-term and take on this role once the time comes. The position would suit someone from a smaller vessel looking to move up to larger yacht management.
The mate will be included in all planning and have ownership of the daily operations and safety. A strong sense of responsibility is paramount. Experience with mini-ISM and deck management are essential. In boom furling experience is preferred but not necessary. The yacht follows an adventurous itinerary, recently completing a world circuit with diving excursions in Indonesia, Galapagos, Mexico, and Fiji. Plans include cruising in the Mediterranean before heading to Central America and then the Pacific.
Owner trips are relaxed and family-oriented, with crew often dining with owners and participating in diving excursions. The owners are appreciative mid-western Americans who maintain a laid-back atmosphere and place complete trust in their crew. They typically visit for 10-day periods every 6 weeks when in the Pacific and 3-4 times per season in the Mediterranean.
This is a couples role with either a chef (must have experience on SYs and confident cooking for Celiac Owners) or a stewardess (can be green, but preference is for someone with at least 1 season of experience on a SY).
